Anyone with a disability who wants to volunteer has the opportunity to do so

Many disabled people volunteer and we are committed to increasing these numbers by ensuring anyone with a disability who wants to become involved has maximum opportunity to do so.

Shaping the Future works with others including NCVO, Voluntary Organisations Disability Group and Vision for Volunteering to:

identify and remove barriers preventing or dissuading disabled people applying
develop and deliver appropriate training to organisations
review policies with disabled volunteers in mind
collect data to understand and address any support needs individual volunteers may have
consider appropriate tech solutions that might facilitate a disabled person to volunteer
write support for adjustments and accessibility into funding bids and volunteering budgets
develop a quality mark for organisations who have removed barriers for disabled volunteers.
