Disabled volunteers

Anyone with a disability who wants to volunteer has the opportunity to do so
Many disabled people volunteer and we are committed to increasing these numbers by ensuring anyone with a disability who wants to become involved has maximum opportunity to do so.
Shaping the Future works with others including NCVO, Voluntary Organisations Disability Group and Vision for Volunteering to:
- identify and remove barriers preventing or dissuading disabled people applying
- develop and deliver appropriate training to organisations
- review policies with disabled volunteers in mind
- collect data to understand and address any support needs individual volunteers may have
- consider appropriate tech solutions that might facilitate a disabled person to volunteer
- write support for adjustments and accessibility into funding bids and volunteering budgets
- develop a quality mark for organisations who have removed barriers for disabled volunteers.
